Facts & Info - Linseed soap
Linseed soap is a pure natural product without solvent and artificial additives, but with a wide range of uses. Historically, the linseed soap was well known and used frequently - and luckily more and more people are beginning to rediscover this all-round product. Here we have collected our best tips:
Wood
The linseed soap cleans, unlike the green soap, the surface of the wood while lubricating and protecting the wood. This makes the linseed soap perfect for cleaning and handling of garden furniture.
Fittings
Do you have old fittings that are stained by color? Try to put them in a mixture of linseed soap and water for a day. Then wipe away the paint residue from the fittings with a cloth rag. If you have rusty fittings, you can boil them in a mixture of 50/50 linseed soap and water for a few hours. Let it cool during the night, then raise the batters and brush in water and allow to dry. Then paint them with linseed oil.
Soap floor
Linseed soap is also used for a really beautiful soap floor. Important to remember, however, is never to pour clean soap directly on the wooden floor. It is so concentrated that oil stains are very difficult to remove, so always dilute the soap with water or moisten the floor with cold water before using the soap.
Kitchen
Linseed soap and water are perfect for cleaning and processing kitchen benches, stone materials and tile floors - the soap saturates, cleans and protects the stone or tiles.
Wood floors
Linseed soap can be used for scrubbing wooden floors (oiled, painted, etc.). However, as the soap is so effective, it is advisable to be careful with already treated wood floors so the soap does not dissolve the existing treatment. If you are unsure how your hardwood floors will react, do a test in a corner or in a wardrobe where it does not matter if it resolves the treatment.
Houseplants
Mix a small amount of linseed soap with water and spray on your plants to get rid of small unwelcome bugs.
Car wash
Use linseed soap and water for the efficient, environmentally friendly and cheap cleaning of the car or bike.
Brush Cleaning
Keep your brush in a mix of linseed soap and water and you'll have a brush that will last your whole life.
Please note, however, that the linseed soap should not be used to wash already linseed-painted surfaces, as the linseed soap will dissolve the paint.
