Historical Curiosity - Swing tub
When looking for beautiful products from the turn of the century as inspiration to our current range, you sometimes encounter odd inventions. The Fahnehjelm brochure, printed in 1901, aims to launch the new product Swing Tub. The brochure was printed in 1901, and the tub then cost 42 kronor, which in today's monetary value equals just over 2,300 Swedish crowns.
Apparently, a pair of buckets of water is enough to rinse someone bathing who sits up and rocks the bath with a swinging movement. The experience reminds one of sea bathing which was fashionable at the time. The inventor of the swing bath is probably the engineer and founder of the company Otto Fahnehjelm. If it became a sales success or not, we have no information...
Quote from the brochure:
"These excellent tubs are recommended as the best for family use." They occupy a small place, can easily be moved and require a minimum amount of water for a bath, depending on where the bath water can be easily heated in a pot on a regular kitchen counter. Baden is exceptionally comfortable and reminds one of the pleasant sea baths through the water's ripples at the cradle of the bathtub. "
