Facts & Info - About "pärlspont"
The "pärlspont" was introduced as early as the 19th century and quickly became popular, especially in villas. This beautiful panel can be used for everything from ceilings and interior walls to chests or above the sink.
What sets the "pärlspont" apart from a regular wood panel is that it has a raised spring - called a bead. This rounded end on one side of the board runs along the entire board. It is said that the task of the bead is to cast a small shadow over the gap that can occur when the wood moves, to make it less visible to the eye.
The bead board is preferably attached with a 50 mm diver and can be painted, lacquered or used as is.
One rule of thumb for timing a pearl panel is to look at the width of the boards. The early pearl point of the 19th century was wider (about 120 cm) and more powerful than the thinner and narrower boards of the 20th century.
The panel in the first image is 95 mm wide and painted with linseed oil paint in NCS code 1502-Y.
