Wood Tar - Red Tar
A pigmented wood tar that's perfect for preserving and protecting wooden facades, doors, gates, windows, windboards, water boards, and shingle roofs. This pine tar is pigmented with red iron oxide paste to produce a beautiful red hue.
Wood surfaces exposed to sun, wind, and rain get washed out on the surface and eventually turn gray, weather, and crack. Even previously tarred surfaces age in the same way, so treatment needs to be repeated at regular intervals. On exposed southern and western sides, the typical maintenance interval is every 5 years, whereas for northern and eastern sides, a 10-year interval might suffice.
Red Tar can be easily thinned with raw linseed oil, balsam turpentine, and/or denatured alcohol. For the best results, we recommend that you apply the red tar at a maximum temperature of 65°C (149°F). Drying time can vary depending on the quality and properties of the substrate, external conditions like temperature, sun, wind, absorption, and layer thickness. But with the right application, the tar will protect and preserve your wood for many years to come!
With a coverage of about 2-4 m² per liter for the first coat on dry substrate and about 4-8 m² per liter for subsequent coats.
NOTE! This product may cause an allergic skin reaction and has long-term harmful effects on aquatic life. Be sure to read the instructions and safety precautions before use.
