Linseed Oil - Rust Protection Oil 1 L
Drying oil penetrates into the surface structure of pure or corroded metal and prevents oxidation.
The anti-corrosion oil is extracted from linseed oil with a unique refining process. It consists of drying, i.e., oxidizing fatty acids which are water-repellent, which living organisms cannot absorb and which resists fats, petroleum products, salts and weak acids, e.g., lemon, wine and acetic acid. The oil penetrates into the pores and nooks of the surface and isolates it from oxygen. It dries, i.e., reacts with oxygen in air. It swells 8.6% and forms linoxin, a natural polymer that permanently attaches. At 20°C and with good ventilation, the rust protection oil will dry within 24 hours.
Dried rust protection oil is an excellent paint base if the excess has been removed from the surface before the oil has dried.
Clean, non-corroded metal surfaces are also rust-protected effectively by painting them with Selders linseed oil paint. They consist of 45% vol. of binders having the same composition and the same properties as the rust protection oil. Selder's linseed oil paints permanently adhere to the oil-treated surface and never flake off. They can be easily maintained every 10 to 30 years, depending on the amount of UV radiation that decomposes the refined linseed binder.
Instructions
Clean, non-corroded metal surfaces that shall be painted should be rust-protected by Selder & Company's linseed oil paints. They consist of 45% vol. of binders that have the same composition and the same characteristics such as the rust protection oil.
Remove loose rust, grave rust, paint residue, grease, etc. with high pressure washer, for example. Stubborn surface rust doesn't need to be removed. Make sure the surface is completely dry before treatment.
Apply the rust protection abundantly with a brush or spray on a dry surface when the daily temperature is kept above 5°C. The hotter the oil and/or the metal is (up to 130⁰C), the more efficient the oil penetrates into pores and nooks. WARNING: At temperatures above 180°C, the oil emits white steam which has a stinging smell.
Remove after 20-30 minutes (cold oil after 1-2 hours). Carefully remove all the oil that's left on the surface. Oil that is remaining on the surface forms a sticky film. If so, carefully scrape off the film with a sickle and machine polish with anti-corrosion oil.
Allow to oxidize for at least 24 hours.
Wash brushes and tools with strong soap.
Work protection: Respiratory protection is not needed. Provide good ventilation, especially when working with oil at 130⁰C. Hot oil has little heat and does not cause burns during spillage.
WARNING:
Metal objects that have been in hot oil will burn.
Contains: Oxidizing fatty acids of linseed oil.
Dry matter: 100%
Drying time: One day at 20°C and good
ventilation.
Access: 1-2 dl / m2.
WARNING: RISK FOR AUTOIGNITION! Cloths and porous material moistened by linseed oil should be burned, dried on the open, fire proof place or stored submerged in water before they are thrown in the bin.
